Deimos is one of the smallest known moons in our solar system. It's orbiting in the third smallest
radius. Phobos is also a quite tiny moon having the smallest major
axis (of all moons) in the solar system. Due to gravitational effects between Mars and
Phobos, it is continuously braked and loosing

altitude by 1.8 meters per century. Both moons are characterised by a low
albedo, this means that a small amount of the sun exposure is
reflected, thus the body is very dark. The structure of the
moons gives hints, that they are captured asteroids.
